March 10, 2015—Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and 41 of its schools were honored as recipients of the Texas Comptroller’s 2014 Texas Honors Circle Award, recognizing schools and districts that are achieving academic success through cost-effective operations. Award recipients achieved strong academic performance while spending relatively little compared to their peers.
Campuses were notified of their Honors Circle status in January. Only 347 school campuses statewide received this distinction for high rankings in the 2014 Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST), meaning CFISD accounted for nearly 12 percent of all Honors Circle campuses statewide.
CFISD was one of only 46 Texas districts to earn the five-star rating from the office of Glenn Hegar, Texas Comptroller, for academic and financial performance. A five-star rating reflects the strongest relative academic progress combined with the lowest relative spending.
Elementary campuses receiving the award achieved a five-star FAST rating, while middle and high-school campuses tapped for the honor achieved at least a 4.5-star FAST rating. The following CFISD schools were recognized in the Texas Honors Circle:
